Daikin began life in the 1920s. Founded in Japan, they were originally a manufacturer of aircraft radiator tubes.
By 1951, things had changed and Daikin developed the world’s first heat pump type packaged air conditioner. The ‘Mifujirator’ was a game changer as it enabled turn-key operation, a far cry from the high expertise and technical skill that had been required to operate conventional air conditioning equipment up until then.
This wasn’t the end of their world-first innovations. In the 1980s Daikin released the world's first commercial multi-split type air conditioner and their first inverter type air conditioner went to market.
Our history with Daikin in New Zealand starts in 1993 when operations commenced in Auckland. To think it was just over 20 years ago, in 1997, Daikin inverter wall mounted split system heat pumps were launched in New Zealand.
Today we know them as New Zealand’s air conditioning specialists, a trusted name in heat pumps. You’ll find them in homes, businesses and community projects across the country, so they’re used to designing products that can handle our climate.
